OUR TEAM

Our team is made up of passionate artists, educators, cultural ambassadors, and volunteers who believe in the power of art to connect people and preserve heritage. Together, we work to promote Peruvian traditions through dance, music, education, and community programs in Austin and across Texas. Each member brings unique experience, creativity, and commitment to empowering youth, families, and diverse communities to celebrate their roots and strengthen cultural identity.

Through collaboration, dedication, and love for our culture, our team continues to build a vibrant and inclusive space where Peruvian traditions can be experienced, learned, and shared.

Objectives

  • Promote Peruvian art through traveling exhibits and community events that celebrate both traditional and contemporary expressions.

  • Educate and inspire by offering programs that deepen understanding of Peru’s artistic and cultural heritage.

  • Support artists by creating opportunities, visibility, and resources for both emerging and established creatives.

  • Strengthen community by connecting people to their cultural roots through meaningful cultural experiences.

  • Grow the creative economy by encouraging artistic projects that support local cultural and economic development.

Karen Hess

There are no words to fully capture the vital role Karen Hess plays in keeping Folk Media Peru focused and effective. Her consistent communication with participants makes her our most valuable resource for understanding and responding to the community’s needs.

Fernando Tagle

Fernando, a founding member and highly respected leader of the Folk Media Peru team, has been instrumental in shaping the organization’s vision and programs. With years of experience, he has helped establish Folk Media Peru’s reputation and impact within the community.

Lloyd Allen II

Since our founding, Lloyd has been one of the longest-standing members of the Folk Media Peru team, playing a key role in advancing our mission and projects. As a U.S. Veteran, he brings years of experience, dedication, and expertise, helping the organization grow and achieve meaningful impact in the community.

VOLUNTEERS

Our team of dedicated volunteers brings expertise, passion, and commitment to Folk Media Peru’s mission of promoting education, strengthening cultural identity, and making a positive impact in the community. Working alongside artists, community organizations, and education specialists, our volunteers help ensure that every program is meaningful, high-quality, and culturally relevant.
