FOLKLORE
At Folk Media Perú, our folklore programs preserve, promote, and celebrate Peruvian cultural heritage in Austin, Texas. Through traditional Peruvian music, folkloric dance, storytelling, and community education, we create meaningful opportunities for youth, families, and adults to reconnect with their Peruvian roots and Afro-Peruvian traditions. Our programs are designed to strengthen cultural identity, encourage intergenerational learning, and unite the Peruvian and Latin American community through living traditions.
Each year, we proudly host Fiesta del Perol, one of Austin’s most recognized celebrations of Peruvian folklore and traditional music, bringing together artists, families, and cultural leaders. We also organize the Concurso Selectivo Mundial de Marinera en Austin, where the champion is selected to represent Austin, TX at the World Marinera Finals in Peru, creating a cultural bridge between our local community and Peru’s most prestigious folkloric competition.
Through classes, workshops, performances, and annual cultural events, Folk Media Perú serves as a leading organization for Peruvian dance, Afro-Peruvian culture, and folklore programming in Texas, ensuring that Peru’s rich traditions continue to thrive across generations and borders.
